Frequently Asked Questions

Sous is a presence-based food discovery app where real diners post selfies with their meals to prove they were actually there. No star ratings. No rambling reviews. Just real people eating real food at real places.

Unlike traditional review platforms, Sous doesn't have star ratings or written reviews. Instead, every post requires proof of presence - a photo of the dish with optional selfie and geotagged location. This eliminates fake reviews, gaming, and toxicity.

Every post on Sous includes three elements: your face (a selfie, optional but incentivized), the plate (photo of the actual dish), and the place (geotagged restaurant location). That's it - simple and authentic.

Star ratings have become meaningless. When everything is 4.2 - 4.5 stars, the signal becomes noise. Ratings also invite gaming, revenge reviews, and paid manipulation. By removing ratings entirely, we let the visual evidence speak for itself.

We've designed Sous to be low-toxicity by default. No comments means no performative negativity, no arguments, and no bias. The presence of real people at real restaurants is all the endorsement you need.

Your face is optional but incentivized. Posts with verified presence (including your face) get more visibility. This creates accountability and makes it impossible to fake presence at scale.

When you open Sous, you'll see a feed of people near you eating at restaurants right now. Dishes that look good from people who enjoyed them. One tap to see the restaurant, menu, and directions.
